Slaves of the Past

Slaves of the Past

Men ruin their lives mostly by being slaves of the past. Most of the time, success in one area becomes a curse in disguise. The success in one area makes others to praise him of his extra ordinary talent that makes success possible for him. He builds a self image about him by incorporating success into it. As no success lasts for ever, he starts to suffer a lot to retain success which is essential to keep his self image about him intact. He becomes a slave to his past success because of which loses peace. Without peace of mind, his brain is not going to work at its best. So success seems to go far and far away from him.

This happens with most successful people who shines in one area for a period of time, after which they toil a lot to get themselves back to the place that is essential to keep them on spotlight. In this attempt, they start to steal the quality time they spend with their family and friends and allot it to their success retaining efforts. Sometimes, unfortunately they achieve success again and inspire others to do the same. This is how he inspires a large group of people who follow him to lose peace and this passes on from generation to generation which ultimately results in the restless world filled with confusion and conflict.

We can see this addiction of past behavior more clearly among us in the way we choose jobs. Most of the people align their jobs with their education and not with their real interest. This leads to conflict in their professional life which soon reflects in other parts of their life. Most of us choose to do higher studies that seems to have wide scope or the ones that are recommended by our family members or friends. There is nothing wrong in doing so, especially when we have no idea about what to study.

Once he joins the course, he will soon realize that he is not enjoying it. But he prefers to suffer in finishing the course instead of changing it. Sometimes he may enjoy the studies and the environment it offers. So he finishes the studies without any trouble. After that, he joins the job that aligns with his higher studies. Now he starts to realize that this job does not align with his actual talent and interest. He does not quit the job. Instead he continues the job complaining about it all along. He does not want to quit the job because he believes that changing job will make himself as a failure in the eyes of the world. This is how he is trapped and continues to be the slave of his past education and waste his entire life by doing jobs that he does not love and end up a failure in terms of his real talent and interest.
