Miss Kuvagam is celebrated every year in Villupuram where they pick up Miss Kuvaagam among transgenders or LGBT or hermaphrodites or Hijras or Thirunangaigal as they are widely called in Tamilnadu. This year Actress Kasthuri and few other celebrities attended as a chief guest for this function. But it is really pathetic to know that nobody knows about the spiritual significance of this function where they tie mangalyam to aravanis in koothandavar kovil.
